Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has decided to re-engage with the party’s founder rather than immediately expelling MNAs and senators, despite earlier directives for their removal.
Committee Formed to Address Concerns
According to party sources, the founder had ordered the expulsion of members who had distanced themselves from PTI following the 26th Constitutional Amendment. However, rather than taking immediate action, the leadership has decided to form a sub-committee to draft recommendations on the matter.
This sub-committee will meet the party founder at Adiala Jail, where a final decision will be made regarding the fate of the absent members.
Fear of Losing Political Strength
Sources indicate that the PTI leadership is reluctant to expel members over concerns that their seats could end up benefiting the government. Leaders believe that if expulsions begin, more members may follow, further weakening the party’s position.
Internal Party Consensus
Many PTI members reportedly agree that keeping their seats intact is a priority and that a more strategic approach is needed instead of immediate action.
