LEGAL
In a significant legal development, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court has declared the proceedings to declare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as a wanted person null and void. The court also suspended the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Gandapur in connection with a case filed at Hassan Abdal Police Station.
The ruling came after a petition was filed by Gandapur's lawyer, Muhammad Faisal Malik, who argued that the Peshawar High Court had already granted bail to the Chief Minister in all cases related to the matter. A copy of the Peshawar High Court's order was submitted to the Rawalpindi court during the proceedings.
Following the submission, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court ruled in favor of Gandapur, rejecting the arrest warrant and suspending the legal proceedings aimed at declaring him a wanted person. This legal victory comes amid ongoing tensions and political developments surrounding the case.
Gandapur, who holds significant political influence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has faced legal challenges in recent months, but his legal team maintains that the cases against him are politically motivated.
This ruling has brought temporary relief to the Chief Minister and his supporters, with the court emphasizing the importance of adhering to previous court orders and ensuring fairness in the legal process.
