Selectors Consider Replacing T20 Captain Salman Ali Agha Ahead of World Cup

With next year’s T20 World Cup in mind, the national cricket selectors have reportedly begun deliberations on replacing current T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, following his underwhelming performance in the Asia Cup.

According to sources, Salman’s future as T20 captain is under serious consideration, as the selection committee explores potential replacements ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball series against South Africa.

Salman faced heavy criticism for his poor batting and inconsistent leadership during the Asia Cup. He managed to score only 72 runs in seven innings with an average of 12 and a strike rate of 80, often losing his wicket at crucial moments.

Sources revealed that discussions are underway about changes in the squads for both the T20 and ODI series against South Africa. The inclusion of senior players and the induction of new faces are also being considered to strengthen the team’s balance and performance.

The three-match T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa will begin on October 28 in Rawalpindi, followed by a three-match ODI series. Prior to the limited-overs matches, the two teams will face off in two Test matches.

Cricket insiders suggest that the selectors want to finalize a stable and competitive squad well before the World Cup, ensuring that Pakistan enters the tournament with both form and confidence.

While no official announcement has been made, the growing speculation points toward a possible leadership change as the team management aims to rebuild momentum ahead of a crucial cricketing year.
