Severe Flooding in Balochistan and Sindh: FP Dam Under Threat as Rivers Overflow

Balochistan has been severely impacted by recent heavy rains, causing a surge in rivers and new torrents across Jhal Magsi, Khuzdar, and Kalat hills. The rainfall has resulted in a significant influx of water into rivers, with 95,000 cusecs from Jhal Magsi, 80,000 cusecs from Bhag Nadi, and 20,000 cusecs from Sain Wari Nai and Dhorra flowing into Sindh's rivers.

The Khuzdar-Shahdadkot road, a critical link between Sindh and Balochistan, has been compromised as levees in the Wingo mountain region overflowed with rainwater. The levies force posts in Wingo Mountain have also been destroyed, exacerbating the situation. Villages including Shanbani, Mathu, and Kamal near Barija city are submerged, causing significant disruption and damage.

The situation has worsened as the flooding water collides with the FP Dam. The dam, located in Qamber-Shahdadkot and Dadu districts, is facing a critical threat due to a lack of maintenance and repairs. There is an urgent fear of further flooding if immediate action is not taken to reinforce and repair the dam.

Authorities are urged to address the situation swiftly to prevent a major disaster. The current crisis highlights the pressing need for effective infrastructure maintenance and emergency response to protect communities and mitigate damage.
