FUTURE
Interior Sindh is grappling with severe flooding, which has left countless residents stranded and in dire need of assistance. The relentless rains have wreaked havoc in the region, particularly impacting areas like Mithi, Tharparkar, and Hyderabad.
Families from Mithi are fleeing to Tharparkar and Hyderabad, setting up temporary camps on mounds and hills as they escape the floodwaters. The Mithi-Hyderabad Highway has become a makeshift refuge for many, with hundreds of families establishing temporary shelters along the route.
In the Badin district, especially in Golarchi and Jhuddo tehsils, heavy rains have caused mud houses to collapse, leading to significant livestock losses. Residents who once lived in modest homes are now exposed to harsh conditions, with food shortages and a lack of clean drinking water exacerbating their plight. Many are forced to consume contaminated water from ponds, raising serious health concerns.
The stagnant floodwaters have also led to an increase in mosquito populations, adding to the misery of affected families. Despite the scale of the disaster, district authorities have yet to provide assistance, leaving residents to fend for themselves.
The affected communities have urgently appealed for help from the Sindh government, local administration, and philanthropists. Immediate aid is needed to address food shortages, provide clean water, and support the rebuilding of homes and infrastructure.
The crisis underscores the urgent need for a coordinated relief effort to support the beleaguered residents of interior Sindh and mitigate the impact of the ongoing floods.
