Sindh Fixes Preferred Vehicle Registration Numbers Fee Up to Rs5 Million

The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has officially fixed new fees for preferred and premium motor vehicle registration numbers, with rates going as high as Rs5 million for select number plates.

According to a notification issued by the department, vehicle owners seeking specific or “choice” registration numbers can obtain them upon payment of the prescribed fee, which ranges from Rs1 million to Rs5 million depending on the category.

Under the revised structure, applicants wishing to secure registration numbers 786 and 110 will be required to pay Rs2 million.

For three-digit registration numbers ranging from 111 to 999, the fee has been set at Rs1 million per number.

Meanwhile, premium three-digit number plates ranging from 100 to 900 — often considered high-value or distinctive numbers — have been fixed at Rs5 million. Similarly, highly sought-after number plates from 001 to 009 will also cost Rs5 million each.

All other preferred or choice numbers not falling within these specified categories will be available for Rs3 million, according to the notification.

Officials said the initiative aims to regulate the allocation of special registration numbers while generating additional revenue for the province.

The move is expected to attract buyers interested in unique, symbolic, or prestigious vehicle numbers, a trend that has gained popularity in recent years across major cities including Karachi.
