Sindh Government and Goods Transporters Reach Agreement, Protest Ends

Negotiations between the Sindh government and goods transporters in Karachi have resulted in a successful resolution, bringing an end to the protest that had disrupted traffic in the city. Following the discussions, the transporters have agreed to end their rally, giving the provincial government two days to address their demands.

The protest, which had been initiated by goods transporters in Karachi to voice their grievances, led to precautionary traffic measures. The Karachi traffic police had placed containers on Mai Kolachi Road to avoid any potential incidents or further disruption.

Minister Sharjeel Memon Leads Negotiations

To mediate the situation, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon arrived at the protest site to engage directly with the transporters. The process of negotiation involved leaders from the Pakistan Goods Transport Association, including Nisar Hussain Jafri, and the United Goods Transport Association, led by Ghulam Yasin Niazi.

During the talks, the transporters presented their concerns and urged the Sindh government to provide an immediate solution. In response, the provincial government assured that it would take the necessary steps to address the protestors' issues promptly.

Transporters Announce End to Protest

After successful negotiations, the transporters on Mai Kolachi Road announced the conclusion of their protest rally. Shahzad Awan, a representative of the goods transporters, declared, "I hereby announce that we are ending this rally here. We will see more in 2 days; we are calling off today's rally."

This development comes as a relief to Karachi residents and businesses that were affected by the disruptions caused by the protest. The two-day deadline set by the transporters for the Sindh government to resolve the issue will likely be a critical period for the authorities to address the concerns raised.

Conclusion

The successful conclusion of the protest through negotiations highlights the importance of dialogue between the provincial government and key stakeholders. With the two-day deadline in place, all eyes will be on the Sindh government to address the transporters' demands swiftly and avoid further disruption.
