Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, is set to launch in Pakistan soon. The Space Activity Regulatory Board has granted Starlink the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC), paving the way for final licensing by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
According to sources, Starlink has successfully completed all regulatory requirements, including clearances from the Ministry of Interior and the Space Regulatory Board. The PTA is now expected to issue Starlink’s license within the next two weeks.
Regulatory Milestones Completed
To operate in Pakistan, Starlink had to go through multiple stages of approval. The company has already obtained:
✅ Registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)
✅ Approval from the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)
✅ Clearance from the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board
With these regulatory steps completed, only the final PTA license remains before Starlink can begin offering satellite-based internet services in Pakistan.
What This Means for Pakistan
Starlink’s entry into Pakistan is expected to revolutionize internet connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas where traditional broadband services are limited. The satellite-based internet service promises high-speed, low-latency connectivity, making it an attractive option for businesses, rural communities, and tech startups.
Industry experts believe Starlink’s presence will enhance Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, improve broadband penetration, and foster innovation in multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, and e-commerce.
As the PTA moves toward finalizing the licensing process, anticipation is growing for Starlink’s official launch, which could bring a new era of internet accessibility to Pakistan.
