  • The Hefty Penalty Approved: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially approved a strict fine of Rs50,000 for anyone caught dumping animal waste, remains, or offal in streets, public neighborhoods, canals, or municipal drains during Eidul Azha. Presiding over a high-level video link meeting alongside Provincial Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq and Secretary Mian Shakeel Ahmad, the Chief Minister warned that administrative negligence would result in strict penalties, whereas areas maintaining exceptional sanitation standards would receive official rewards.

  • Massive Civic Deployment: To execute the massive "Suthra Punjab" provincial cleanup campaign, the government is deploying a specialized force of 176,000 sanitary workers alongside more than 8,000 temporary personnel. This field workforce will be equipped with a fleet of over 40,000 additional vehicles, including customized loader rickshaws, pickups, tractor trolleys, and mini dumpers. To ensure deep structural penetration, municipal corporations will deploy 15 additional loader rickshaws per tehsil, while four dedicated units will service every individual union council.

  • Phased Action Plan & Public Assistance: The cleanup operation is scheduled to commence during the final watch of Chand Raat, prioritizing the sanitization of graveyards and 2,687 prominent commercial markets. During the three days of Eid, teams will conduct door-to-door distributions of biodegradable shopping bags for waste disposal, alongside using mobile rickshaws to broadcast public service awareness announcements. To address urban drainage contingencies, jetter sets, suction units, and dewatering machines are being prepositioned across 4,500 special camps, with a centralized monitoring system tracking complaints via the Suthra Punjab helpline (1139).
