Tando Allahyar Approves Rs915M Budget, Opposition Boycotts

The budget session of the Tando Allahyar Municipal Committee was held under the chairmanship of Syed Samar Hussain Shah Rizvi, where a total budget of Rs915.188220 million was presented and approved by a majority for the fiscal year 2026–27.

The approved budget allocates Rs205 million for development projects, Rs511.1469373 million for salaries and allowances, and Rs122.5 million for natural disasters and national events.

Despite the formal approval, the session was marred by controversy. Opposition members staged a boycott, voicing dissatisfaction over the non-completion of development works in their wards under the previous budget. They argued that their constituencies had been neglected in allocation and execution of schemes.

In response, Chairman Rizvi assured the protesting members that their concerns would be addressed in the current budget.

"You will be given double the work this time. Except for the Vice Chairman, no member got their fair share previously. This budget includes development schemes for friends and allies," Rizvi stated.

The budget meeting was attended by key municipal officials and members, including Chief Municipal Officer Abid Wali Khoso, Accounts Officer Ghulam Mustafa, and committee members Memon Faisal, Mirjat Zawar, Parvez Samon, Haji Saleem Khanzada, Haji Farhan Pitafi, among others.

The approval of the budget marks a significant step in planning for the next fiscal year, though opposition dissatisfaction signals ongoing tensions regarding equitable development within Tando Allahyar’s municipal framework.
