Three Arrested for Gang-Rape in Lahore, Fourth Suspect at Large

Punjab Police on Monday arrested three suspects for allegedly gang-raping a woman in Lahore, while efforts are underway to apprehend a fourth suspect, according to an official police statement.

The arrests were made within two hours of the case being reported. “The suspects were arrested within 2 hours of being reported,” the statement read, adding that raids were ongoing to track down the fourth individual involved.

Case Details

The crime took place after one of the suspects allegedly lured the victim to Lahore from Sahiwal and made her stay at his relative’s house. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran:
“The initial investigation suggests that the suspects assaulted the victim for two consecutive days.”

A case has been registered at the Chung police station under Section 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police Action & Victim Support

DIG Kamran is personally overseeing the case and assured that the victim is receiving full legal and medical support. “The suspects involved in this heinous crime will be brought to justice,” he stated.

Alarming Trend of Sexual Assault Cases

Despite strict anti-rape laws in Pakistan, including the death penalty and long-term imprisonment for rapists, such crimes continue to persist.

Last week, police arrested two suspects for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Bahawalnagar. Similarly, in January, a university student in Lahore was allegedly gang-raped in a private housing society on Raiwind Road.

The rising frequency of such cases has raised concerns about the enforcement of laws and the protection of women in the country.
