The Early Morning Collapse: A devastating structural collapse in the early hours of Tuesday morning has claimed the lives of six young children from the same family in the Rahimabad Bassi area of Shangla district's Alpuri tehsil, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to Rescue 1122 emergency officials, the victims were completely caught off guard, as they were all fast asleep when the heavy mud and timber roof of their traditional house suddenly caved in on top of them.

The Emergency Response: Rescue 1122 Shangla Spokesperson Rasool Khan Sharif confirmed that emergency dispatch teams responded immediately after receiving the panic call from local residents. Rescuers initiated a rapid, hands-on rubble-clearance operation and managed to extricate all seven buried children within an hour. Despite their swift efforts, six of the children succumbed to massive trauma before or during extraction, while a seventh child was pulled out alive but remains in highly critical condition at a local medical facility.
The Pattern of Infrastructure Casualties: This catastrophic event underscores a deadly, ongoing trend across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's rural belts, where older mud-brick structures routinely fail under weather stress. Just last month, a strikingly similar structural failure occurred in the Prang Majoki area of Charsadda district, where three children were crushed to death and their parents left severely injured following a residential roof collapse.
