Trump’s Knesset Speech Disrupted as MPs Expelled for Pro-Palestine Protest

US President Donald Trump’s address to the Israeli parliament took a dramatic turn when two opposition lawmakers were expelled after raising posters calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state.

The incident occurred during Trump’s speech marking the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners under the Gaza peace agreement. As the US President voiced support for a Palestinian state as part of the broader peace plan, two members of the Knesset stood up, waving signs that read, “Recognize Palestine.”

Security personnel immediately intervened, escorting both lawmakers out of the chamber amid loud applause from other members. The Speaker of the Knesset apologized to President Trump, who laughed off the interruption and praised the security forces — drawing a standing ovation and chants of “Trump!” from the assembly.

According to Israeli media, the expelled members were opposition lawmakers Ayman Odeh, an Arab Israeli MP, and Ofer Kassef, a Jewish left-wing politician. Both are known advocates for Palestinian rights and members of Israel’s left-leaning parties.

In a post on X, Ayman Odeh wrote, “They kicked me out of the House because I made the simplest demand — one that the entire international community agrees on: to recognize the Palestinian state. The simple fact is that there are two nations here, and no one is going anywhere.”

Ofer Kassef, in his own post, said his intention was not to disrupt Trump’s speech but “to demand justice.” He added, “True peace that will save both peoples of this land from destruction will only come from the end of occupation and apartheid, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.”

The incident underscored the deep divisions within Israeli politics over the Gaza peace agreement and Trump’s proposal for a two-state solution. While Trump’s speech was met with overwhelming support from the majority of lawmakers, the protest by the two opposition members reflected the growing tension around Israel’s future relationship with a potential Palestinian state.
