14 Terrorists Killed in Security Operations Across KP and Balochistan: ISPR

The Pakistan Army on Saturday announced that 14 terrorists were killed in three separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as part of the country’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), nine militants belonging to what the state terms Fitna al Khawarij — a label used for terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — were eliminated on Friday.

Operations in Tank and Lakki Marwat

The ISPR said the first IBO was conducted in Tank after reports of terrorist presence in the area. “During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, seven khawarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.

In a separate operation in Lakki Marwat, security personnel killed two more militants. Sanitisation operations were underway to track down any remaining elements described by ISPR as “Indian-sponsored khawarij.”

Operation in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti

Later in the day, security forces carried out another IBO in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan, killing five terrorists associated with Fitna al Hindustan — a term the state uses for Balochistan-based groups it accuses of receiving Indian support.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered in all three operations.

The ISPR said the neutralised terrorists had been involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement personnel, and targeted killings of civilians.

It reaffirmed that the counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-i-Istehkam would continue with full force to eliminate “foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism” from the country.

National Leadership Praises Security Forces

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their “big gains” under Azm-i-Istehkam, saying the nation stood firmly behind them in the fight against terrorism.

“The nation stands with security forces against terrorism. We are determined to root out terrorism from the country,” he said in a statement posted on X by state broadcaster PTV.

President Asif Ali Zardari also commended the “courage and timely action” of the troops in thwarting what he called the “heinous intentions of the terrorists.” He reiterated that Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism would remain unwavering.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the “remarkable efficiency” with which militants were neutralised, praising the professionalism and swift response of the security forces. Their actions, he said, prevented major threats and reflected the “exceptional skill and commitment” of Pakistan's personnel.

“The nation takes pride in the bravery and professionalism of its soldiers,” Naqvi said, adding that the forces were fully committed to maintaining lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rising Terror Incidents in KP and Balochistan

Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in terrorist activity, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Earlier this week, security forces killed seven terrorists in separate operations in North Waziristan.

The latest IBOs reflect a continued escalation in counter-terrorism efforts as the state attempts to curb militant attacks and restore stability in the country’s western regions.
