8-Year-Old Child Dies After Falling Into Sewer in Korangi Mehran Town

An 8-year-old child tragically lost his life after falling into a sewer in the Korangi Mehran Town area of Karachi, police officials confirmed on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Dilbar. According to police, the child was playing outside his house when he accidentally fell into the sewer. His uncle reportedly pulled the body out of the sewer shortly afterward.

This incident comes amid growing concerns over safety in Karachi, particularly the prevalence of open manholes and drains. Earlier this month, the body of a 3-year-old child was recovered from a drain near Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal after falling into an open manhole. The child’s body was found approximately a kilometer away, 14 hours after the accident.

Authorities have urged local residents to exercise caution, while safety activists have called on the city government to urgently address open sewers and manholes to prevent further tragedies.

The incident highlights the urgent need for increased safety measures in Karachi’s residential areas, particularly where children are at risk.
