Accountability Court Approves Closure of Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case Against Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz

The Lahore Accountability Court has officially approved the closure of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, ending a long-running investigation into alleged corruption in the case.

Accountability Court Judge Rana Arif delivered a reserved verdict granting the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s application to close the case, following the Lahore High Court’s directive that NAB seek final approval from the Accountability Court.

NAB had submitted that the investigation found no evidence of corruption against the Sharif family in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills matter, prompting the Executive Board of NAB to approve closure. The Accountability Court’s ruling now formally concludes the investigation.

The decision marks a significant legal development for the Sharif family, clearing them of allegations in the case and closing a chapter that had drawn considerable public and political attention.
