Aleema Khan Alleges Solitary Confinement and Obstruction of Meetings with Imran Khan

Aleema Khan, the sister of Imran Khan, has leveled serious allegations against the authorities at Adiala Jail, where her brother, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is currently being held. Speaking to the media outside the jail, Aleema Khan accused the jail authorities of keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement and obstructing his meetings with family members and lawyers.

According to Aleema Khan, the authorities are instructing the police to set up roadblocks one and a half kilometers before the jail to prevent any meetings, creating false excuses that no one has come to visit. She expressed confusion, asking why women, specifically his family, are being obstructed from meeting him.

“It has been a month now, and we have not been allowed to meet Imran Khan,” Aleema said. “If lawyers and family are being stopped, who will he discuss his cases with?” she continued, emphasizing the growing frustration of the family members who have been denied access to the PTI leader.

She further clarified that her legal team, including lawyers Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Salman Safdar, and Zaheer Abbas, are diligently pursuing Imran Khan's cases. However, she claimed that the jail authorities are intentionally preventing these lawyers from meeting with Imran Khan, obstructing the legal process. Barrister Salman Safdar was only allowed to meet with the former prime minister for 35 minutes, despite the Supreme Court's order for a one-hour meeting.

In a defiant statement, Aleema Khan said, "We are not saying that only we should meet him; let 100 people meet him if you want, but our lawyers should be allowed access."

In her emotional address, she vowed not to leave the jail until her brother is allowed to meet his family and legal team. "If we are not allowed, send my two sisters; they are more intelligent than me, and the founder's message will also come through them."

Additionally, Aleema Khan alleged that the jail administration is deliberately replacing her legal team with unrelated individuals to undermine the original legal counsel.

Political and Legal Support: After the lawyers’ meeting with Imran Khan concluded, Faisal Chaudhry, Faisal Malik, and Usman Gul were reported to have returned from Adiala Jail. Several PTI members, including MNA Arshad Sahi, MPA Abdul Salam Afridi, and Malik Anwar Taj, also arrived at Gate 1 of the jail to show their solidarity.

Meanwhile, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, has filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court, arguing that Imran Khan's meeting should be allowed as per the court’s orders. Petitions filed by Aleema Khan, Shibli Faraz, and Omar Ayub regarding the same matter are still pending.
