The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi to appear via video link in connection with terrorism-related cases.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the hearing involving two cases registered under terrorism provisions against Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and others at Khana police station. During the session, PTI's legal representative appeared on behalf of the accused.
The judge inquired about the status of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is currently detained. The PTI lawyer clarified that Qureshi is not a convicted prisoner but is held in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra instructed the Jail Superintendent to facilitate the virtual appearance of the accused at the next hearing, scheduled for September 7. The court subsequently adjourned the proceedings until that date.
This development marks a significant step in the ongoing legal proceedings against prominent PTI leaders, emphasizing the judicial system's adaptation to ensure compliance and participation through modern technology.
