During the latest hearing of the Toshakhana II reference in Adiala Jail, Bushra Bibi refused to appear before the court. After waiting for three and a half hours for her arrival, the court adjourned the session until June 3.
Jail authorities informed the court that Bushra Bibi declined to come to the court on the grounds that she was not allowed to meet with her founder, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, earlier on Tuesday. This refusal sparked visible frustration from Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand.
The prosecution strongly urged the court to revoke Bushra Bibi’s bail due to her non-compliance. Special Public Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi emphasized that Bushra Bibi currently enjoys bail in the case but her absence was unjustified.
Exercising his judicial authority, the judge proceeded with the hearing in her absence. However, the judge gave Bushra Bibi a final opportunity to present herself at the next hearing scheduled for June 3, warning that failure to do so could lead to the cancellation of her bail.
This development adds another layer of complexity to the Toshakhana II case, with political and legal observers closely watching the unfolding proceedings.
