An anti-terrorism court in Karachi has issued summons to 12 accused, including the leader of the Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqqiqi (MQM-Haqqiqi), Afaq Ahmed, in a case related to incitement, the burning of a dumper, and the theft of sugar. The next hearing has been scheduled for May 6.
According to the police's case challan, the case was registered at Landhi police station. The police have alleged that Afaq Ahmed provoked his workers through an audio message, urging them to engage in violent activities. The challan further claims that on his orders, a container containing sacks of sugar was set on fire, with the sugar then being stolen.
The arrested accused in the case have reportedly confessed during interrogation that the order to set the container ablaze came directly from Afaq Ahmed. The police have now submitted the case challan to the court.
Despite being named in the case, Afaq Ahmed is currently out on bail.
The court has issued notices to all the accused, and May 6 has been set for the next hearing.
