NAB Launches Investigation into Rs 3.6 Billion Peshawar Bus Terminal Project

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched an investigation into the Rs 3.6 billion Peshawar Bus Terminal project, which involves allegations of corruption related to construction contracts and the role of officials from the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA). The inquiry is targeting senior officials of the PDA as well as two construction companies, Al-Noor and Younis Builders, for their involvement in the project.

The Peshawar Bus Terminal project, initially planned during the first term of the PTI government, began construction during the party’s second term. The terminal, which spans 323 kanals of land at the Motorway Junction on the Northern Bypass, is designed to provide modern amenities including a mosque, car parking, rest areas, washrooms, solar power systems, and CCTV cameras. The project is expected to be completed by June 2025, with approximately 75% of the work already completed.

According to NAB sources, several senior officers posted in various departments are also under scrutiny, and NAB has issued notices to summon all parties involved in the investigation.

This investigation follows growing concerns over transparency and financial mismanagement, particularly regarding the awarding of contracts and the quality of work completed so far. In the first week of March, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur visited the construction site, urging authorities to complete the project on time.
