The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reaffirmed its decision not to send its national cricket team to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The board held a meeting with an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation in Dhaka to discuss the matter.
During the meeting, the BCB reiterated its formal request to the ICC to shift Bangladesh’s matches to an alternative venue, citing government instructions and security concerns. Discussions also explored the possibility of moving Bangladesh to another group, considering logistical challenges.
The ICC delegation included General Manager Events and Corporate Communications Gaurav Saxena, who attended online due to visa delays, and General Manager Integrity Unit Andrew Effergrew.
The BCB described the talks as constructive, professional, and open, with both sides agreeing to continue dialogue on the issue. The board emphasized that ensuring player safety and adherence to government guidance remain its top priorities.
