The Pakistan cricket team has been eliminated from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup following a Super 8 match defeat against Sri Lanka in Kandy.
Pakistan batted first after Sri Lankan captain won the toss and opted to field. The Green Shirts posted a total of 212 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs, largely thanks to outstanding innings from Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 100, and Fakhar Zaman, who contributed 84 runs.
Despite the strong total, Pakistan’s bowlers could not restrict Sri Lanka, who successfully chased 147 runs, ending Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
With Pakistan eliminated, New Zealand from Group 2 secured a spot in the semi-finals due to 3 points and a superior net run rate, while England had already qualified for the final four.
The loss marks a disappointing exit for Pakistan after promising batting performances but an underwhelming bowling effort, leaving fans reflecting on what might have been in the tournament’s knockout stages.
