Shehbaz Sharif Allows Fans in Stadium for Pakistan Super League Final

IslamabadShehbaz Sharif has given the green light for spectators to attend the final of the Pakistan Super League Season 11, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Sharing the update, Mohsin Naqvi said he had requested the prime minister to allow fans back into stadiums. While the premier was initially supportive, he had pointed out that the country is currently implementing austerity measures, particularly aimed at reducing fuel consumption.

Despite these concerns, the decision was finalized after repeated appeals from PSL franchise owners, who stressed the importance of crowd presence for the spirit of the tournament. Naqvi thanked the prime minister, saying the move would revive the excitement among cricket fans.

Matches in PSL 2026 had been held without spectators due to a combination of economic measures and heightened security considerations linked to the regional situation. Authorities had prioritized safety during a sensitive period.

Franchise stakeholders consistently highlighted that fan participation is essential to the league’s identity and atmosphere. They urged leadership to reconsider restrictions and allow supporters to return, especially for key matches.

The final, expected to be held at Gaddafi Stadium, is now set to feature a live audience, restoring the electrifying environment PSL is known for. Cities like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, and Quetta have traditionally contributed to the league’s vibrant fan culture.

The return of spectators for the final is expected to significantly boost the overall mood of the tournament and enhance the players’ performance in a charged atmosphere.
