POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has been moved back to Adiala Jail following a successful surgical procedure to address a serious eye condition. The former first lady, who is currently serving sentences in both the £190 million corruption case and the Toshakhana II case, was shifted to a hospital after persistent complaints regarding her health and vision.
Diagnosis and Surgical Procedure
The move follows weeks of concern from her legal team and family. According to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Bushra Bibi complained of impaired vision, black spots, and "flashes" in her right eye. A specialized medical examination by ophthalmologists revealed a retinal detachment, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.
On Thursday evening, she was moved to a private hospital in Rawalpindi with her consent. The surgery was performed by Professor Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and a specialized medical panel. Following a one-night stay for post-operative monitoring, she was discharged in "satisfactory condition" on Friday and transported back to the prison facility. Authorities have noted that all necessary follow-up appointments will be conducted as per the surgical team's advice.
Reaction from PTI and Family
The health of both Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan remains a flashpoint for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan: The PTI Chairman took to social media to reiterate that access to quality healthcare and family visitation is a "basic legal right." He urged the government to ensure that both the former premier and his wife receive the medical attention they require.

Family Concerns: Her sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, had previously alerted the public that the surgery was "crucial," while other party members expressed frustration over what they described as a delay in providing necessary diagnostic tests.
