POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has written a formal letter to President Asif Ali Zardari, raising concerns over the province’s rightful share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award based on population.
Unconstitutional Distribution of NFC Funds?
In his letter, Gandapur highlighted that the former tribal districts were merged into KP in 2018, increasing the province’s population by 5.7 million. However, he pointed out that despite this increase, the province has not been allocated its rightful share in the NFC award.
He accused the federal government of continuing to receive the share meant for the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), calling it unconstitutional.
Call for Urgent NFC Meeting
The KP CM demanded the immediate convening of the 10th NFC meeting to address the fair distribution of financial resources. He emphasized that KP's economic stability and development depend on receiving its due share.
His letter comes at a time when relations between the federal and provincial governments remain tense, with KP facing financial constraints and seeking greater autonomy in managing its resources.
