Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has strongly opposed the Cholistan Canal project, claiming that its approval was based on a misrepresentation of facts.
Speaking at a press conference, CM Murad Ali Shah stated:
🔹 Sindh opposed the Cholistan Canal project during discussions in the caretaker government, but WAPDA initially refused to back down.
🔹 The project was approved based on the IRSA Punjab report, which Sindh challenged.
🔹 A meeting under President Asif Ali Zardari was misused to justify the canal’s approval, but Zardari never approved any such project.
🔹 He warned that Sindh will resist any project that harms its interests and may take strong action if needed.

The Cholistan Canal has been a subject of inter-provincial dispute, with Sindh claiming that it will negatively impact water distribution and violate the Water Accord. CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized that Sindh will not allow any such project that affects its water rights.
