Coal Mine Collapse in Balochistan's Harnai District Claims 12 Lives, 8 Rescued

A tragic incident unfolded in Balochistan's Harnai District as a coal mine collapse claimed the lives of 12 miners, while eight others were successfully rescued from the debris.

 

The mine collapse occurred in the Zardalo area of Harnai following a gas explosion, trapping approximately 20 miners inside. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti immediately directed authorities to initiate rescue and relief operations.

 

After rigorous efforts by rescue teams, eight miners were pulled out alive, but the recovery operation sadly confirmed the demise of 12 individuals. Following the rescue operation's conclusion, the mine was sealed off for safety purposes.

 

Expressing sorrow over the loss of life, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to expedite rescue efforts and ensure necessary medical treatment for the injured miners.

 

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah extended their condolences to the affected families, emphasizing solidarity and support during this difficult time.

 

The tragic incident underscores the perilous working conditions faced by miners in Pakistan's coal mining industry, highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
