Controversy Erupts at Adiala Jail During Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi Meeting

A controversy emerged at Adiala Jail today as legal disputes surfaced during a scheduled meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Tensions flared when senior PTI leader Babar Awan was allowed to meet the incarcerated couple despite his name allegedly not being on the approved list.

The situation escalated as PTI’s legal representative, Salman Akram Raja, confronted jail authorities, questioning why Babar Awan was granted access when his name was not part of the pre-approved meeting list. Raja emphasized that discipline must be maintained, stating, "Only the names we submitted should have been considered."

Bushra Bibi intervened, instructing that lawyers Salman Safdar and Usman Gul be included in the meeting. Raja reiterated that the Islamabad High Court had finalized the list of six approved visitors a day prior, urging jail authorities to abide by the court’s directives.

Despite the objections, the jail administration ultimately permitted Babar Awan, Niazullah Niazi, and Salman Akram Raja to meet with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Additionally, Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry, Naeem Haider Panjhuta, and Salman Safdar were also granted access.

Jail officials defended their actions, stating that all relevant names had been shared in advance with the PTI leadership. However, the confusion over meeting permissions has led to legal uncertainties, potentially resulting in further legal battles.

As tensions persist, legal experts speculate that this issue could prompt further court interventions. The situation remains fluid, and future developments will be closely watched.
