Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has successfully arrested 34 alleged terrorists during coordinated operations across multiple cities in the province. The detainees include high-risk militants linked to the notorious group Fitna-ul-Khawarij, according to CTD officials.
Operations were carried out in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi, and other urban centers based on actionable intelligence. Among those apprehended, two of the most wanted terrorists were detained in Lahore, and another in Bahawalpur.
Authorities seized a cache of explosives, including a hand grenade, 18 detonators, and other dangerous materials from the suspects’ possession. Officials confirmed that these militants had finalized plans to target law enforcement agencies, but timely police action prevented potential large-scale attacks.
This recent crackdown is part of an intensified security campaign in Punjab, where over 5,000 combing operations were conducted this month alone, resulting in the arrest of more than 600 suspects involved in various criminal and terrorist activities.
The CTD reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out extremist threats and ensuring the safety of citizens throughout the province.
