Pakistan Relied Solely on Own Resources in Recent India Conflict: Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan Armed Forces, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, has affirmed that Pakistan relied entirely on its own resources during the recent conflict with India and did not receive any external assistance.

In an exclusive interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), General Sahir Shamshad detailed that throughout the intense 96-hour period of clashes, Pakistan’s response was managed solely through its own military capabilities. When asked about alleged assistance from China, the General clarified that while Pakistan has procured equipment from various countries, in real-time operations during the conflict, the armed forces depended exclusively on their own strength.

The recent escalation began after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and launched missile attacks on various areas in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir between May 6 and 7, citing an attack on the tourist spot of Pahalgam in occupied Kashmir as justification. Pakistan responded decisively to these provocations.

On May 10, following another missile attack on Pakistan’s Nur Khan Air Base and Rahim Yar Khan Airport, the Pakistani military launched Operation Banyan Marsus. During this operation, Pakistan shot down six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, and destroyed several strategic Indian airfields and ammunition depots such as Adampur and Udhampur.

The swift and strong retaliation by Pakistan forced India to reconsider its position and seek a ceasefire through the United States and other allies. This resulted in a cessation of hostilities between the two countries.

General Sahir Shamshad’s comments underscore Pakistan’s confidence in its military capabilities and assert the country’s autonomy in defending its sovereignty without external dependency during the crisis.
