Deadly Fire Claims Lives of 41 in Kuwaiti City of Mangaf: Officials Investigate Cause

In the early hours of Wednesday, tragedy struck in the Kuwaiti city of Mangaf as a fire erupted in a building housing workers, claiming the lives of at least 41 individuals, according to the country’s deputy prime minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Fahad, during his visit to the site, pointed fingers at real estate owners, accusing them of violations and greed, which he claimed contributed to the incident. "Unfortunately, the greed of real estate owners is what leads to these matters," he stated.

The fire was reported to authorities at 6 am local time, with Major General Eid Rashed Hamad noting that the building accommodated a large number of workers. While many were rescued, numerous fatalities occurred due to smoke inhalation.

Authorities emphasized the importance of caution against overcrowding workers' housing accommodations, although specifics regarding the type of employment or origin of the workers were not provided.

The fire has been contained, and investigations into its cause are underway. As the nation mourns the loss of lives, Kuwaiti officials are committed to determining the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and preventing such disasters in the future.
