ECC Approves Rs 4.77 Billion for Families of Missing Persons, Development Funds

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, on Friday approved financial assistance for families of missing persons and sanctioned several development and energy-related projects.

The Ministry of Finance briefed the ECC, stating that Rs 5.76 billion has been allocated for the establishment of Danish Schools and for the Youth Skill Development Program. The ECC directed that public-private partnerships be considered for Danish Schools to expand access and improve management.

Additional development funds were approved for projects in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as for the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). The PTDC has been directed to submit a comprehensive business plan for review.

The ECC also approved changes in the Fan Replacement Program rules, aimed at reducing electricity consumption. A total of Rs 200 billion has been sanctioned to address the financial challenges of DISCOs, while Rs 6.35 billion has been allocated for energy sector projects in line with the country’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Significantly, Rs 4.77 billion will be provided to support 945 families of missing persons, ensuring financial relief for affected households. The committee also approved funds for the repair of helicopters used by the Frontier Corps Balochistan and Rangers, as well as the construction of 104 new residential suites for members of parliament.

The ECC’s decisions reflect the government’s commitment to addressing social welfare, energy sector stability, and institutional development while supporting vulnerable families impacted by unresolved issues.
