PTI Candidates Notification Withdrawn
In a significant development, the Election Commission has withdrawn the earlier notification declaring successful candidates on general seats as PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) candidates. These lawmakers had won general seats in the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, but due to legal and procedural complications, they will no longer be recognized under PTI's platform.
This reshuffling of seats and party representation significantly impacts the political landscape, especially in Punjab and KP where PML-N has gained a majority on reserved seats, strengthening its position in both assemblies.
The development follows weeks of legal uncertainty and aligns the representation of political parties more accurately with the current parliamentary composition, as per the latest judicial guidance.
