The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday suspended the memberships of 32 members of the National Assembly, 50 members of the Punjab Assembly, and 33 members of the Sindh Assembly for failing to submit details of their assets and liabilities.
According to an official notification issued by the ECP, the suspensions were carried out under relevant provisions of election laws, which require all elected representatives to submit annual statements of assets and liabilities within the prescribed timeframe.
Among the suspended MNAs are Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, and Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani.
In the Punjab Assembly, prominent suspended members include Rana Sikandar Hayat, Adnan Dogar, and Aamir Hayat Hiraj.
Similarly, in the Sindh Assembly, the membership of Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani is among those suspended for non-compliance.
The Election Commission stated that the suspended lawmakers will not be allowed to participate in legislative proceedings, vote, or receive salaries and privileges until they submit the required asset details and their memberships are restored.
The ECP reiterated that transparency and accountability are essential components of the democratic process and warned that strict action will continue against elected representatives who fail to comply with legal obligations.
