Father, Two Daughters Killed in Khairpur Road Accident

A devastating road accident in Sindh’s Khairpur district claimed the lives of a father and his two daughters on Wednesday, while four others sustained injuries. The crash occurred when a car and a passenger coach collided near Gambat city, according to police reports.

Gambat Station House Officer (SHO) Rafiq Soomro confirmed the fatalities and stated that the injured and deceased had been transported to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) for treatment.

According to preliminary reports, the victims were traveling towards Karachi in a Toyota Corolla when their vehicle collided with an oncoming passenger coach. The coach was reportedly heading towards upcountry.

SHO Soomro suggested that the driver of the car may have either lost control of the vehicle or fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in the tragic collision. However, the exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Niaz Mohammad, a resident of Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and his two daughters. One of the daughters was named Asra, while the identity of the other remains unknown. The names of the injured have yet to be released.

Pakistan’s Alarming Road Safety Record

This accident adds to a growing list of fatal road crashes across Pakistan, where speeding, reckless overtaking, and poor adherence to traffic laws contribute to frequent tragedies.

Just two days ago, four friends lost their lives when their car plunged into the Naseer Canal in Sindh’s Tando Allahyar district.

Last week, a speeding truck on the Indus Highway near Dadu district’s Khairpur Nathan Shah town killed two motorcyclists. In February, Khairpur witnessed another major accident when 11 passengers died and 35 others were injured after a bus collided with a rickshaw.

In another tragic incident, five devotees lost their lives, and 10 others were injured when their van crashed into a trailer in Sindh’s Shaheed Benazirabad district.

Other recent road accidents include:

  • Three young Naat Khawans from Gilgit-Baltistan died in a crash near Jamshoro.
  • A Karachi-bound bus collided with a trailer on the M-9 Motorway in January, killing one and injuring 11.
  • A deadly crash on the Karachi-Thatta National Highway on January 9 claimed four lives, including a newlywed man and his mother.

Call for Road Safety Measures

The increasing frequency of fatal road accidents highlights the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations and better enforcement of road safety laws. Experts emphasize the importance of driver awareness, vehicle maintenance, and improved infrastructure to reduce the number of such tragic incidents.

Authorities are investigating the Khairpur accident to determine its exact cause and prevent similar incidents in the future.
