POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has called on Muslim countries to form a united Islamic bloc in response to escalating regional tensions, particularly involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Speaking to journalists, the JUI leader stressed that the current situation demands collective action from the entire Islamic world. He urged Muslim nations to come together and define a مشترکہ direction to safeguard their political and strategic interests.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concern that the ongoing conflict has effectively been extended into Iran after bypassing Arab states. He warned that if Iran were to be destabilized, it could pave the way for what he described as Israeli and Zionist dominance across the region.
He further stated that the confrontation between Iran, Israel, and the United States is not an isolated development but rather a continuation of the long-standing Israel–Palestine conflict.
Calling for unity, he proposed that Islamic countries should establish joint agreements covering political coordination, trade cooperation, and defense collaboration. According to him, such measures would help counter what he termed Israeli expansionism and Zionist influence in the region.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role, he said the country is currently playing a constructive and positive part in diplomatic efforts. He emphasized the need for greater parliamentary involvement, urging the government to take the legislature into confidence regarding key decisions. He also called for an in-camera session of parliament to deliberate on the sensitive situation.
Referring to ongoing diplomatic engagements, Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted that Pakistan has hosted important talks involving major Muslim countries, including Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He described this as a significant diplomatic achievement and expressed optimism that collaboration among leading Islamic nations would help shape a balanced and unified approach for the Muslim world.
