Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stressed the need to enhance capacity at all levels to boost national revenue, highlighting the ongoing structural reforms in various sectors of the economy.

Speaking at a high-level meeting, the finance minister emphasized the importance of legislative developments in the agricultural sector. "Agricultural income tax bills have been passed by the provinces, including Punjab and Sindh, as we continue our reform agenda with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)," he stated.

Agriculture and Industry: Pillars of the Economy

Acknowledging the pivotal role of agriculture in the national economy, Muhammad Aurangzeb pointed out that the salaried class and the manufacturing industry are already heavily taxed. He assured stakeholders that the government would move forward with consultations for the upcoming budget to strike a balance and foster sustainable growth.

IMF Program and Budget Consultations

The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to reforms under the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. "We are prepared to do whatever is necessary for economic stability. Steps are being taken to improve infrastructure and reform strategies," he added.

He also emphasized the importance of engaging with stakeholders across the country. "We will reach out to all chambers of commerce to gather their recommendations. The government is fully aware of the priorities for the budget," the finance minister noted.
