The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration authorities arrested six suspects who were deported from different countries during an operation at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
According to officials, the suspects were detained upon arrival in Pakistan after being deported from Germany, Turkey and Iraq.
Authorities said one of the suspects, identified as Rashid, had been deported from Iraq on an emergency passport after being accused of overstaying in the country. During the initial inspection, immigration officials discovered that 19 pages were missing from his personal passport, raising further suspicions.
Another suspect, Atif, was arrested after reportedly staying illegally in Turkey for eight months. Officials said he had initially travelled on a Cyprus transit visa but remained in the country unlawfully after the visa conditions expired.
In a separate development, three other suspects — Saddam, Rukhsar and Hammad Rafiq — were also detained after being deported for attempting to enter Europe illegally.
Initial investigations conducted by FIA officials revealed that the suspects had attempted to travel to Europe through Iran with the assistance of human smuggling networks.
Authorities said such illegal migration routes are commonly used by traffickers who transport individuals across multiple countries before attempting to move them into European states.
Meanwhile, another suspect identified as Umair Khan was deported by authorities in Italy after he allegedly travelled illegally from Pakistan through Iran and Turkey in an attempt to reach Europe.
FIA officials stated that the detained suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation and legal action. Authorities are also working to identify the human smuggling networks involved in facilitating these illegal migration attempts.
The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by Pakistani authorities to curb human trafficking and illegal migration through regional smuggling routes.
