FIA Arrests Six Human Traffickers Linked to Greece Boat Tragedy

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended six human traffickers, including two individuals directly linked to the recent Greece boat tragedy.

The arrests, made on Friday in Sialkot and Gujranwala, highlight the agency's ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking networks operating across the region.

Key Arrests in Sialkot and Gujranwala

Among those arrested are Nadeem Ali from Pasrur (Sialkot) and Anas Iqbal from Kamoke (Gujranwala). Both suspects have cases registered against them with the Gujranwala FIA circle.

In another operation, the FIA’s Gujrat circle arrested Ijaz Ahmed and Sajjad Ahmed, residents of Phalia tehsil in Mandi Bahauddin. The duo was implicated in case number 406/24, where they allegedly received Rs. 2 million from a complainant under the pretense of sending his son to Greece. Instead, the victim was flown to Malaysia.

Additional Arrests in Mandi Bahauddin

Muhammad Ansar and Jamal Din, also residents of Mandi Bahauddin, were apprehended for their involvement in separate human trafficking cases.

Greece Boat Tragedy Investigation Widens

The tragic Greece boat capsize has placed a spotlight on human trafficking networks in the region. The number of cases linked to the incident continues to rise, with nine cases now registered across the Gujranwala and Gujrat FIA circles.

Inquiries into seven additional cases are currently underway as the FIA intensifies its crackdown on these criminal networks.

A Call to Action

Human trafficking remains a pressing issue in Pakistan, with countless families falling victim to false promises of a better future abroad. The recent arrests are a step forward in dismantling these networks and delivering justice to the affected families.

As investigations deepen, authorities urge citizens to report suspicious activities related to human trafficking to help curb this menace.
