A fire erupted on Monday at the Al-Nujabi Mobile Market in Karachi’s Saddar area, officials confirmed. The blaze reportedly started in a vehicle on the seventh floor parking lot and spread to other vehicles.
Fire brigade sources said that three fire engines are actively engaged in controlling the fire. Rescue 1122 confirmed that all people inside the building have been evacuated safely. A snorkel was deployed to help evacuate anyone trapped within the building.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab directed authorities to prioritize public safety and ensure maximum efforts are made to protect lives and property. The mayor also ordered an intensification of rescue operations at the site.
This incident comes just days after the tragic fire at Gul Plaza Mall, also in the Saddar area, which claimed more than 70 lives, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in the city’s commercial centers.
Authorities continue to assess the cause of the fire and urge residents to avoid the area while emergency teams work to bring the situation under control.
