In a significant counter-terrorism operation, five militants, including a key commander of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed during a clash in North Waziristan’s Tapi village on Sunday morning.
According to sources, militants launched an attack on a security checkpost using both small and heavy weaponry. The assault injured two security personnel, identified as Lance Naik Nabi Khan and Naik Munir Khan, who were promptly shifted to Miramshah Hospital for treatment.
Security forces responded with a full-scale counter-attack, killing five militants. Among the deceased was Aminullah, alias Istiqlal, a key TTP commander. The forces have since cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to locate any remaining threats.
No statement was released by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at the time of this report.
Suspected Spying Incident in Dattakhel
In a separate incident, suspected militants killed two individuals from the Zoi Saidgi area of Dattakhel in Miranshah on allegations of spying for security forces. The victims were slaughtered and their bodies dumped by the roadside in Azizkhel.
Police officials arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to Miramshah Hospital for further investigation.
