Foreign Office Warns Against Fake News Amid Middle East Tensions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cautioned the public and media against the spread of misinformation amid the evolving situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that various speculations and rumors are currently circulating, including false information related to Pakistan. He warned that unverified reports being broadcast or shared could create unnecessary anxiety among the public.

Emphasising the sensitive nature of ongoing diplomatic developments, the spokesperson noted that confidentiality and discretion are essential elements of diplomacy and negotiations. He stressed that irresponsible commentary on such matters could undermine efforts aimed at maintaining stability and resolving tensions.

Tahir Andrabi urged both the public and media organisations to exercise caution and responsibility while discussing the situation. He advised relying solely on official statements for accurate and verified information, rather than engaging in speculation.

The statement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, where rapid developments have led to an influx of information, much of it unconfirmed.

The Foreign Office reiterated its appeal for patience, urging citizens to wait for formal announcements to avoid confusion and misinformation during this critical period.
