Global Crude Oil Prices Hit 3-Month High, Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan Likely to Rise

Global crude oil prices have reached a three-month high, signaling potential increases in the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan. As of the latest data, Brent crude futures have risen by 0.35%, reaching $77.32 per barrel. This surge in global oil prices has raised concerns about potential supply disruptions, rather than broader economic uncertainty, driving the increase.

In response, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed revised prices for petroleum products, which are expected to be finalized by the Prime Minister and the Finance Division. Once approved, these new prices will be implemented on January 16.

At present, the price of petrol in Pakistan stands at Rs 252.66 per liter, while the price of diesel is Rs 258.34 per liter. With global prices continuing to climb, experts anticipate that the country may face price hikes in the coming days.

The rise in global crude oil prices is attributed to concerns about potential disruptions in supply chains, which have been causing fluctuations in market dynamics. These price adjustments are expected to have a significant impact on Pakistan's energy sector and the broader economy.
