Google has officially rolled out its latest innovation, AI Mode, in Pakistan, offering users an advanced AI-driven search experience designed to handle more complex queries.
First unveiled in the United States earlier this year, the feature is now making its way across the globe, with Pakistan among the latest countries to gain access. Powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5, Google’s AI Mode allows users to ask longer and more detailed questions that previously required multiple separate searches.
According to Google, early testing has shown that queries in AI Mode are already two to three times longer than standard searches. The tool has been particularly effective in exploratory tasks such as comparing products, planning trips, and tackling “how-to” style queries.
“It dives deep to answer multiple questions at once, with helpful links for further exploration,” Google said in a statement.
Pakistani users can access AI Mode in English via the Google app on Android and iOS, as well as on desktop and mobile web.
How It Works
Behind the scenes, AI Mode uses a process called “query fan-out”, breaking down a user’s request into multiple subtopics and then running simultaneous searches. This method ensures highly relevant answers by combining results from across the web, Google’s Knowledge Graph, and real-time shopping data.
The feature is also multimodal, allowing interaction through text, voice, or images. For example, a user can upload a photo of unfamiliar spices at a local market and ask: “What are these spices and how can I use them in Pakistani cooking?” AI Mode can then provide answers with additional follow-up suggestions.
Practical Use Cases in Pakistan
Google highlighted several ways Pakistani users can benefit from AI Mode:
- Trip Planning: Create a full five-day itinerary including sightseeing, adventure, and food recommendations.
- Education Support: Find free online math resources for students, along with interactive apps and YouTube channels for practice.
- Everyday Questions: Compare products, get cooking tips, or explore how-to guides all in one seamless search.
Future Outlook
While AI Mode promises smarter and deeper search results, Google acknowledged that responses may not always be accurate, emphasizing that the system is still in its early stages of development.
Nevertheless, the launch of AI Mode in Pakistan marks a significant step in making advanced AI tools more accessible to local users, potentially transforming the way people search, learn, and explore online.
