The federal government has approved the implementation of uniform monthly tariff adjustments across the country, including Karachi.
Previously, K-Electric customers faced separate monthly adjustments compared to the rest of Pakistan. However, under the new decision, all consumers will now be subject to the same fuel price adjustments each month.
The approval came after the federal cabinet endorsed the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on August 19. The move ensures that any increase or decrease in fuel adjustment will be applied equally across the country.
Currently, the basic electricity tariff and quarterly adjustments are already uniform nationwide. With this decision, monthly adjustments will now follow the same principle, creating a single pricing mechanism for all power consumers, regardless of region.
The government has termed the decision a step towards simplifying tariff structures and ensuring equal treatment for electricity consumers across Pakistan.
