At least three people were injured on Tuesday after a grenade exploded at a scrap shop in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district, according to local police.

District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi confirmed the incident, stating that police teams reached the site immediately, collected evidence, and launched further investigation into the matter.

According to details provided by Rescue 1122 Mardan, the injured were identified as 40-year-old Abbas, 17-year-old Saeed, and 24-year-old Amrad. Rescue officials said first aid was provided on the spot before the victims were shifted to Mardan Medical Complex for further treatment.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Syed Abbas Shah later told media outlets that all three injured men were in stable condition, adding that most injuries were concentrated on their legs.

The latest incident adds to a series of grenade attacks reported across the country in recent months. Earlier this month, three people sustained injuries when unidentified assailants on motorcycles lobbed a hand grenade at the office of a private company in Quetta’s Hazarganji area. In March, three policemen were also wounded in a grenade attack on Karachi’s Preedy police station.

Authorities have yet to determine the source of the grenade found in Mardan’s scrap shop, while investigations remain ongoing.
