Following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Hamas has issued its first response, criticizing the president-elect’s stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and his previous support for Israel.

 

In a statement, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri addressed Trump’s comments during the election campaign where he vowed to end the Gaza war within hours of taking office, remarking that Trump's future actions would be judged based on these statements. Abu Zuhri emphasized that the Palestinian resistance organization would closely monitor Trump’s policies and responses regarding the region.

 

Basim Naim, a senior member of Hamas’s Political Bureau, further criticized what he described as the “blind support” of the United States for Israel, stating that this unwavering backing comes at the cost of the Palestinian people and their future. He warned that such support jeopardizes the broader stability and peace of the Middle East.
