The Islamabad High Court has scheduled a hearing on a petition seeking the closure of the X (formerly Twitter) account of Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The case is set to be heard by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir.
According to reports, authorities at Adiala Jail have already submitted their response, while other parties have been directed by the court to file their replies. Senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja is representing Imran Khan in the case.
The court had earlier allowed the counsel to meet Imran Khan for consultation regarding the case; however, the meeting could not take place despite court orders. The petition is part of ongoing legal proceedings concerning the former prime minister’s social media activity while in custody.
Additionally, the court is also expected to hear a separate petition related to access and family visitation for Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, on the same day.
The upcoming hearing is likely to be significant, as it may determine the legal stance on social media use by incarcerated political figures and could set a precedent for similar cases in the future.
