Chief Traffic Officer Captain (retd) Hamza Humayun has suspended several traffic police officers after a video went viral on social media showing them torturing a motorcyclist near a protest site in the capital.

According to details, the incident occurred when a motorcyclist went beyond a barricade set up to control protest movement. The viral footage showed officers dragging the rider, throwing his helmet on the ground, and physically assaulting him.

Following the public backlash, the CTO took immediate notice and ordered the suspension of the involved officials pending a full inquiry.

A police spokesperson later clarified that the incident took place when the biker allegedly posed as a government agency official and broke through the security cordon. The altercation reportedly began after the man misbehaved with the officers on duty.

The spokesperson added that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the matter from all angles, including whether excessive force was used by the officers.

CTO Hamza Humayun reaffirmed his department’s commitment to discipline and public service, stating, “Misuse of authority in uniform will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Islamabad Traffic Police have assured that strict action will be taken in light of the inquiry’s findings to ensure accountability and professionalism within the force.
